When the song "Favorite One" slinks in near the end of the DC based alt-country band Revival's 2007 album Horses of War, it sounds pretty much like the cover of the album feels, expansive and lonely. And as Josh Read tells you he isn't going to buy you roses, it feels like you are trapped in a foggy daydream that slowly grows in intensity until you are shaken awake by the world around you as the final chords ring out. And after four years of aging, this tune, along with many others on the album continually makes me hope that this band will follow their name and get back on the stage sometime soon. Until then, this album still sounds as good today as it did a few years back.
