What It Sounds Like: The Arcade Fire on Sum 42...and Canadian Mist
Why You Should Care: They might just be on to something here.
I think it's safe to say at this point that there is something in the water in Canada. Oh sure, maybe its the health care for everyone thing, or maybe just a health diet of Labatt's and Molson, but musically speaking our enemy our friends to the North just seem to be able to go large in a way that's just a little, well, LARGER than their American counterparts, and the band Wildlife is no exception.
Coming to the world all the way from Toronto, Wildlife's music touches on the grandiose sounds of The Arcade Fire and The New Pornographers, but is tempered with a healthy dose of pop/punk sensibility to create one high energy mother of a rock shot. At least it would seem that way in the video for their song "Stand In The Water" of off the forthcoming Strike Hard, Young Diamond.
But the proof, as they say, is in the pudding, which is why we'll be checking the band out TONIGHT at The Red Palace to find out if the band honors their Canadian heritage and rocks our face off or if this is just another some Canadian ruse meant to weaken our spirits in preparation for the Great Invasion from the North. What? It could happen?
