Why You Should Care:
Who can resist the simple promises of a lush whose main tactic is late-night seduction drowned in booze and blue-eyed soul? “I Won’t Slip Up” is one of the standout tracks from The Delines’ June release Colfax, which has received a handful of reviews, all of which were overwhelmingly positive. The strength of the songwriting should come as no surprise: The Portland-based band is the newest project of Willy Vlautin, the mastermind behind the alt-country outfit Richmond Fontaine. Vlautin’s bruised machismo filtered through the sultry vocals of Amy Boone of The Damnations perfectly evokes the alcohol-and-blues-soaked history of Colfax Avenue in Denver.
Colfax is out now on El Cortez Records.
