If you haven’t made a summer trip out to Wolf Trap yet this summer, you should seize this Thursday. Not only will you have the chance to see songstress Brandi Carlile and folk rocker Josh Ritter, but the opening band—The Lumineers—is worth the trip themselves.
Brandi Carlile hails from Seattle and has been featured on “artist to watch” type lists since she debuted on the scene in 2005. You may know her from singles such as “The Story” and “Turpentine,” the former of which was featured on Grey’s Anatomy. She’s touring in support of her latest album, Bear Creek, which was released earlier this month.
Josh Ritter is a heartthrob. His lyrics are romantic and sincere and anyone who’s seen him live before knows that his enthusiasm is infectious. Beyond his sweeter songs, he’s a terrific songwriter (Paste Magazine named him one of the 100 best living songwriters). His songs tell stories often fictionalized from historical events, his voice causing his characters to come alive in the audience’s mind.
The Lumineers burst on the scene earlier this year with their self-titled debut album. Songs such as “Ho Hey” and “Classy Girls” will have you out of your seat and dancing from the start. They played to a sold-out crowd and rave reviews at Jammin’ Java earlier this year—come earlier and see what all the fuss is about!
Tickets are still available, so come check out these great bands so you don’t have to kick yourself later. The forecast predicts a beautiful day for an outdoor concert.
