Sounds Like: A Dance-y Tamryn or Frankie Rose, Tron Music
Why You Should Care: Sharing a label with DIIV and Wild Nothing, Soft Metals show a Kraftwerk-esque side of Captured Tracks
Captured Tracks seems to be quite busy this year with slated releases from several of their roster artists (as well as a scheduled release from reunited Medicine). One artist set to release their sophomore album is Soft Metals. Hailing from the City of Angels, duo Patricia Hall and Ian Hicks combine Tron-era synth progressions over Hall’s soft yet haunting voice.
The first track off the new album, “Tell Me,” finds the two expanding off the original vocals layered over drums-and-synth formula to create a more sporadic and upbeat track, while still maintaining the sense of distance and isolation via Hall’s vocals.
