SOUNDS LIKE:
Lost in the Trees meshed with a little Hey Marseilles and a hint of Jeff Buckley for good measure

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE:
Big, grand, lush instruments will carry you away in a cascade of yearning

A song for every victim of unrequited love, “North” gives little hint that it’s about to take you from a quiet drum and guitar intro into a huge, grand piano, violin, laden song of longing and desire. The quiet segments only serve to emphasize the yearning in the song:“Why can’t you see that I need you?” singer Liam McCormick pleads driving the heartache deep as the song soars ever louder, only to eventually fall back into silence.

The Family Crest is a San Francisco based collaborative, with seven core members and an  ‘extended family’ of three hundred others who participate in recordings, live performances, and other media and art projects. Their latest EP, The Headwinds, was released last July.
