Sounds Like: Nite Jewel, Phantogram
Why You Should Care: White Hex, after releasing an impressive EP, are aiming higher for their full length release.
On “Paradise”, the latest single from Melbourne, Australia’s White Hex, multi-instrumentalist Jimi Kritzler lays out shimmering, chorus-like synth chords, while singer Tara Green’s vocals swerve from Ladytron-esque deadpan to soaring Portishead heights. Self-described purveyors of “tropical goth” the duo’s synth-driven sound lies somewhere between the dark and the light hinting that despite the potential for gloom, they aren't afraid to create a lavish, exuberant, and maybe even bright record this time out.
Gold Nights is out on June 24th on Felte records.
