If you like effusive, sardonic songwriters with a catalog spanning four decades, or if you enjoy cult favorites who can convey an entire storyline using nothing more than two sentences, a raised eyebrow, and a dry Massachusetts accent, then there is no reason at all why you shouldn’t be in attendance as Jonathan Richman visits our humble town on Friday for a 7 p.m. early show at the 9:30 Club. Although it’s been 20 years since he toured with any version of the Modern Lovers, and he hung up the ‘Godfather of Punk’ moniker years ago, Richman brings a charm and substance to his performances that singers half his age can only dream of – and luckily for you, we’re giving away 2 tickets to see him live with drummer Tommy Larkins.
Whether you’re a 30-year fan of the dude that brought us “Roadrunner” and “I Was Dancing in the Lesbian Bar,” or if you caught on to his genius in the 1990s as he and Tommy played the ill-fated Greek Chorus in “There’s Something About Mary,” Richman always delivers an intimate and hilarious live show, and even if you’re not lucky enough to win, tickets are still available HERE.
He’s not big on putting professional videos on YouTube, but here’s a shaky hand-held taste of what you’re in store for on Friday:
Here are a couple ways you can enter to win, but please note that only one entry per person will be counted.
