"Aphasia" (Live) - Pinegrove

Sounds Like

Acoustic seeds of revolution; alternative rock under the guise of folk.

Why You Should Care

This socially conscious New Jersey band released their sophomore studio album Cardinal in June 2016, and the polite, energetic alternative rock was quickly ranked one of the best albums of the year by Pitchfork, NPR, and Stereogum.

Releasd on Inauguration Day, their latest effort, Elsewhere, is a collection of live recordings of songs from that album. One highlight of Elsewhere is the aggressively vulnerable track “Aphasia (Live),” which blends all the best elements of Pinegrove’s varied genres, but adds a warmth and ease, as though Cardinal had a drink and played a show in your living room with friends on the couch singing backup.

While technically the album is free with an optional donation, in keeping in line with the band’s prior fundraising for Planned Parenthood and native groups fighting the proposed pipeline at Standing Rock, all proceeds from Elsewhere go to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

So…you know what to do.
