ODESZA on the beach; an electronic dance jam you don’t feel guilty listening to.
Why you should care:
Jackson Stell, producer and DJ behind the groovy, electronic dance project Big Wild, dropped the second single off his upcoming EP Invincible yesterday and it promises to make waves. The latest in a progressively sleek string of tracks over the last four years, "Empty Room (feat. Yuna)" is a distinctive and unpretentious pleasure.
Originally from Massachusetts, Big Wild’s upbeat dance music now emerges from the Bay Area, and the diverse, feel-good songs conjure visions of the sandy coastline. The collaboration with Yuna, a Malaysian singer, businesswoman, and fashion icon based in L.A., brings mellow and precise R&B vocals to “Empty Room’s” endlessly catchy composition. The result feels like a natural and appropriate addition on top of her third studio album last year, featuring the top single “Crush” with Usher.
Grab tickets for Big Wild at U Street Music Hall this April and grab them now, because despite this deceptively titled track, the room is going to be packed.
