"Shelter" - darkDARK

Sounds like:

Something straight out of the Upside Down

Why you should care:

Because you’re still a bit obsessed with the 80s, admit it

Production duo darkDARK is set to make their debut with the EP Heathered, which they’re releasing independently on February 24. But to tide us over, the group has released “Shelter”, a song that comes from the dark electronic depths that also brought us musicians like S U R V I V E and Zola Jesus. The haunting synthesizers immediately attack your eardrums before lingering and fading into darkness. Combined with the 80s-influenced drum machines, the track evokes memories of the Blade Runner soundtrack—or really, anything by Vangelis or Tangerine Dream.

darkDARK has this to say about the track: “We envisioned a stark space with a dark presence, like a blacklight that you almost can’t see, but you know is there.” So, if you ever wanted to know what the soundtrack for defeating evil with your Nintendo Power Glove sounded like, look no further.
