Full disclosure: I didn't hear this album until I was at least 30. Oh sure, I had heard "Stay with Me",one of the greatest rock singles ever (seriously, you will NEVER have that much swagger). I knew that this was the band that housed Ronnie Wood AND Rod Stewart before they went their separate ways (the Rolling Stones and solo respectively). I knew that it was highly likely this could be one of the greatest bands ever, but I never thought "Gee I should really check this Faces stuff out"..until I did...and now this monster of an album doesn't leave my side. Mixing British sensibilities and humor with a nasty approximation of the blues, Faces left their peers at this time in the dust. F@3@ the Rolling Stones...Mick only wished he was as cool as Rod Stewart on these tracks. The Who? Stale as week old bread next to these guys. Ranging from raucous ("Miss Judy's Farm", "Too Bad") to naughty ("Your So Rude") to flat out gorgeous ("Love Lives Here") this album has it all. Proof that Rod Stewart didn't always suck, "A Nod.." may be the best album you hear this week. Until tomorrow at least.
Next up: A little bitch drops a heartbreaking bomb.
